The Miss Universe organization just announced Steve Harvey will be repeating as host for the next contest celebration and everybody is talking about it.
“I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake … horrible mistake.” These were the words Harvey pronounced after he incorrectly declared Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner of the 2015 pageant instead of mentioning Miss Philipines, Pia Wurtzbach, who was the actual winner.
Although we might've forgiven Harvey for the Miss Universe blunder, especially after Ariadna Gutierrez has been doing so well for herself (she even landed a part in the new "xXx: Return Of Xander Cage" movie), there's someone who still holds a grudge against the host: Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte.
When the news were announced in Philippines, where Miss Universe 2016 will take place, Duterte opposed immediately saying that Harvey cannot be the presenter and that he wouldn't allow it. Secretary of Tourism, Wanda Teo, spoke to the press on Thursday about the head of state's discontent over Harvey to host the beauty event and, it seems, will do everything in his power to prevent it.
On the other side, the organization has published the event updates on their social media and hasn’t addressed the Philippines authorities' discomfort.
What will happen with all this controversy? Will Steve Harvey win over the president of the Philippines?
The three-hour Miss Universe 2016 special will air live from the Philippines on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 7 PM ET on FOX.
