Sources close to Latin Times have confirmed that Telemundo’s new show “Miss Latina Universo” has been postponed until further notice. The new reality competition was slated to premiere on Sunday, June 15, but for reasons still unknown, it has been delayed. “Miss Latina Universo” is the first-ever reality show to send its winner to the most watched beauty pageant in the world, Miss Universe. Following extensive national auditions, the show will introduce a group of beautiful women who meet the criteria, and they will compete to win the audience’s support, while a pool of judges will guide them. Ultimately, the winner will be chosen by the audience vote.
After the first elimination, a group of 14 candidates will live together and participate in a demanding Academy program until one of them is crowned as the first “Miss Latina Universo.” The winner of the reality show will not only represent the U.S. but also the Latino culture in the popular international pageant. The stakes for this new competition are high and more is on the line for the beauty queen that will be selected. The Sunday show will be hosted by "Un Nuevo Día" personality Rashel Díaz and former "Despierta America" host Raúl González.
Four judges will conform the panel of "Miss Latina Universo" on Telemundo. The show will feature Chiquis Rivera, 1986 Miss Universe Bárbara Palacios, the director of People En Español magazine Armando Correa and Poty, former "Mira Quien Baila" choreographer. So far, Telemundo hasn’t mentioned anything about the delay, and is not promoting the show in its homepage, something usual when a new TV show is about to begin in a network. Could this mean that the show won’t air at all? What do you think? Is the show over before it even began or do you think it still has a chance?
