A 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend allegedly strangled the former’s mother to death for opposing their marriage.
The 40-year-old unidentified woman, a resident of the Rajendranagar area in Hyderabad, India was killed on Monday, Oct.18, during an altercation with her minor daughter and her boyfriend.
According to the police, the juvenile and her boyfriend had come to the woman’s home to persuade her to approve their marriage.
However, the scene escalated when the woman opposed her minor daughter’s decision to marry the boy.
The trio got into a heated argument, during which in a fit of rage, the minor couple murdered the woman by strangulating her with a scarf.
They then fled from the scene, police said.
The incident came to light when the woman’s husband came home from work and found her lying unresponsive in her room.
The man’s cries for help alerted the neighbors and the police were called to the home.
Emergency services and police officers rushed to the home but unfortunately, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
The body was sent to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and later handed over to her family for performing her last rites.
The investigators spoke to the deceased woman’s husband and the neighbors who intimated them about the juvenile and her relationship.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s husband, the police registered a case of murder against the minor couple. A search has been initiated to nab the suspects and a further probe is underway, the police said.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further details were revealed at the time of this writing.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a man forced his physically challenged mother down a deep well after she refused to give him money for his marriage. Luckily, the elderly woman managed to survive the incident.
The shocking attempt to murder happened at Shailana town in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh, India on Sept. 30.
However, the incident only came to light on Oct.11, after police registered a case against the 22-year-old accused, identified as Pushkar Gwala.
According to the police, Pushkar took his mother, Kalabai Gwala to a well on the pretext of performing a ritual to remove ill-spirit from their home.
Once there, Pushkar asked his mother to close her eyes and chant ‘Om Namah Shivaya’. He also gave her a coconut and asked her to throw it into the well.
While Kalabai was throwing the coconut into the well, the accused pushed her into the deep well and fled the scene, police said.
Fortunately, the elderly woman managed to hold onto the pipe of a water pump and screamed for help. Locals rushed to the scene and pulled her out of the well.
Pushkar was arrested and a case of attempt to murder had been registered against him.
