Mike Tyson had his share of ups and downs in his boxing career and only a few know about what went on with him. Tyson was charged with the rape of a beauty pageant contestant in 1992 and drew a sentence of six years.
As most know, Iron Mike only served three years. But it appears there was something deeper to the story. And while his sentence was shortened, the original sentence was for four years. The reason behind that is the bad behavior he showed because he was upset at the outcome of his trial. Tyson shed more light on that when he appeared on VLAD TV.
“I got in trouble like the first six months and stuff, cursing, getting written up,” Tyson said. “And then by that time, I got the hang of the place. ‘Hey, I know how to do this.’ Next thing you know, I’m dating one of the counsel workers now, she’s letting me have sex with her now.”
Because of that bad behavior, the “Baddest Man on the Planet” tried to look for ways to get that fourth year of. He tried the GED (General Education Development) test to shave off that added year. Unfortunately, Tyson flunked the GED and needed to find another way to pass it. The answer to that was sleeping with his counselor so that she would pass him.
“So I flunked the f*cking GED … and got mad, and so I had to start dating this counselor and stuff, giving her money and doing really some nasty stuff to her, and she let me pass this test,” Tyson bared.
Tyson would eventually see that fourth year in prison taken away and get his release after three years. But in his opinion, the former boxing champion admitted that he would have stayed in prison – probably over 50 years – for that unfortunate episode of his life.
