Michelle Rodriguez did not contain herself as she reacted to what writer Chris Morgan said in an interview about “Justice for Han.” Morgan, known as the screenwriter for the majority of “Fast and Furious” movies, but not the highly-anticipated “Fast & Furious 9,” irritated Rodriguez somehow when he said the franchise will one day deal with Han’s storyline.
In a tweet, Rodriguez gave a link of the “Hobbs & Shaw” spinoff screenwriter’s interview with Entertainment Weekly and bluntly said, “I’ve been around since the beginning way before Chris Morgan came along & he has absolutely nothing to do with where this narrative is or where it’s going FYI.” Rodriguez is annoyed that Morgan is giving out false hopes and promising things he could not deliver.
The actress holds the whole franchise dearly to her heart since she has been in most of the installments. The #JustinforHan refrain spread upon the showing of “The Fate of the Furious.” In this movie, Jason Statham’s character, Deckard Shaw became a protagonist character to the disappointment of many who could not get over the fact that it was him who previously murdered Han Seoul-Oh (Sung Kang).
This is understandable, as Han as a fan-favorite in the earlier four movies, until his death, which many considered quite untimely.
What more, when Shaw became the protagonist in “The Fate of the Furious,” fans were further disappointed because Han was not even mentioned, not giving them some form of closure. In the EW interview, Morgan gave a promise that #JusticeforHan would be addressed directly at one point.
“I love ‘justice for Han,’” Morgan told EW, sharing that Han is very important to him. “Sung Kang is a great friend, and Han is a character that I adore. I would say that the super-arc for Deckard Shaw is going to be one of the most interesting, cool, rewarding character arcs in the franchise. Justice for Han is owed.”
He promised fans would certainly be satisfied with what he planned for this storyline. “It’s something we have discussed for a very long time and want to give the right due to. I think the audience will be satisfied and should know it’s coming.”
"Hobbs & Shaw" certainly did nothing for #JusticeforHan, fans complained.
It remains to be seen if Morgan could really deliver in the future, or Rodriguez is right to call him out.
"Hobbs and Shaw" is already in theaters.
