Michael Jordan married Cuban-American Yvette Prieto in Palm Beach on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Miami Herald, Jordan, 50, and Prieto, 35, married at the Bethesday-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church before 500 guests. The elite guest list included Patrick Ewing, Scottie Pippen, Ron Harper, Toni Kukoc, Ahmad Rashad, and Usher. The ceremony was reportedly followed by a banquet for 2,000 people in the backyard of Jordan's 37,000-square-foot home in Jupiter's Bears Club.
Here are six things to know about Michael Jordan's wife:
1. Prieto is a Cuban-American model. Born in Cuba, the model is affiliated with Miami-based Aqua Management and LBS. She has modeled for designers like Alexander Wang.
2. Prieto and Jordan have been together for five years. The two met in 2008 and moved in together in 2009. Jordan popped the question in 2011 over Christmas and the wedding took place on April 27, 2013. According to The Urban Daily, the two met while "freak dancing at a not-so-sexy club in Miami."
3. The model previously dated Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, Jr., the son of Julio Iglesias and the older brother of Enrique Iglesias.
4. Prieto was formerly a Republican. Jordan is a Democrat--he hosted a $3 million Obama fundraiser in New York City--and according to Fox News, Prieto was a registered Republican. She has since changed her political affiliation to Independent.
5. She reportedly went to school for business management and filed for bankruptcy in 2002. The model supposedly fixed her financial situation two years later.
6. Everything else aside, she seems to be a good person--or at least that's how her ex-boyfriend, Iglesias, once described her.
"She's a fantastic girl and I like her," said Iglesias. "Aside from her beauty, which is obvious, she is loving, simple and very good person."
