Paul Aguilar scored the game winning goal in the 118th minute of the second extra time period, and Mexico shocked the United States 3-2 on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl.

El Tri won for just the first time in their last seven matches against the United States, with their last victory coming in 2011 on the same Rose Bowl field.

Both teams traded goals in the first half. Chicharito finally scored against the United States, ending a drought of 280 minutes, and first in five appearances in the rivalry. (10th minute)

Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti opted to start three strikers up front, and the move paid off as Chicharito, Oribe Peralta and Jimenez all were in sync on the game's first goal.

After the goal, Ferretti called for a formation switch and El Tri went back to a traditional 5-3-2 formation

The United States got the equalizer in the 15th minute after Michael Bradley sent a free kick into the center of the box Geoff Cameron who got his head on a the ball and blasted it into the back of the net past Munoz.

Things got chippy in the 33rd minute between Raul Jiminez and Brad Guzan. Oribe Peralta and Rafa Marquez were also involved in the scuffle. Guzan dove on top of ball with Peralta and pushing and shoving was going on.

Chicharito nearly put Mexico in front again in the 59th minute, but could not handle a ball in front of the net that would have given El Tri the lead.

Oribe Peralta scored in the 96th minute to give Mexico the 2-1 lead.

USA found the equalizer in the 108th minute thanks to a brilliant goal by Bobby Wood. Wood got the goal, but it was DeAndre Yedlin's fantastic run that set up the goal for Wood.

It would be short-lived however as Mexico would net the game winner just 10 minutes later thanks to a stunning strike by Aguilar.
