The Mexican National Soccer Team is gearing to fight for the 2014 FIFA World Cup In Brasil in a couple of weeks, but will face some friendly competition along the way. The team commanded by Miguel "El Piojo" Herrera will host the friendly match against Israel in the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City tonight. This game will help the coach fortify his team and make the necessary adjustments to face the steep competition that is up ahead. Tonight's match will be a celebration and the last game they will play in Mexican soil. This game will also mark a milestone in the professional career of Andres Guadado as he will be the youngest player to play in 100 games sporting the green shirt. Organizers have also planned a farewell to Cuauhtémoc Blanco who will receive an homage for his efforts in the sport.
The one and only time that Mexico has faced Israel was back in October 1975, almost 40 years ago. During that game Mexico bested their opponent in a 1-0 win. This will be the first time that the Israel team visit the Azteca territory. Their most notable player is Yossi Benayuon, who currently plays for the Queens Park Rangers and had been part of the Chelsea and Liverpool roster in the past. "We want to make this game difficult for Mexico, we have great confidence in our players, in our team, we are not here to party," Benayoun said in an interview. "I hope I have the opportunity to play minutes to break the record of games in Israel, it will be something special for me, I hope for a good result and that it's a perfect day for me."
Javier "Chicharito" Hernández will be on the bench for the first part of this friendly as his place will be taken by Blanco who will play alongside Oribe Peralta. The Manchester United striker will sub in the second half of the game. In midfield Hector Herrera, Marco Fabián and Isaac Brizuela will hold their spots while Miguel Layun and Paul Aguilar will be wingbacks on the left and right, respectively. Carlos Salcido, Francisco "El Maza" Rodriguez, Diego Reyes will be the three center backs, with Jesús Corona as the goalkeeper. Tonight's match is the first of three matches that Mexico will play before the start of the World Cup tournament in Brasil. On Saturday, May 31, they will face Ecuador and on Tuesday, June 3 Bosnia-Herzegovina. Their first match in Brasil will take place on Friday, June 13 against Cameroon. Mexico Vs.
