
Last night, Mexico faced Chile in the last game of the quarterfinals round of the Copa América Centenario, and the defeat was one of the worst in the Tri’s history and certainly the biggest one of the tournament.
This was especially unfortunate for the Mexican squad not just because of the end result, but because they had been working hard to avoid Argentina in this round, as they thought it would have been the hardest opponent. Additionally, the game was the most anticipated quarterfinals match because both teams seemed to be bringing an excellent level in the previous round, so as far as fans thought, it could have been anyone’s game.
Needless to say, after the humiliating 7-0 defeat, the Internet exploded with memes, jokes and not-so-funny messages for the Mexican team.

Now, Colombia, USA, Argentina and Chile have moved forward to the semifinal round. Argentina and the USA will clash on Tuesday, June 21 at the NGR Stadium, Houston, at 9:00 p.m. ET; while Chile will face Colombia at the Soldier Field, Chicago on Wednesday, June 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
