For the first time in 75 years militant members of the National Action Party (PAN) will elect its next national leader on Sunday in a nation-wide electoral process. The National Executive Committee will host a reception of information concerning the contest, and it is expected that throughout the day informational briefs will be made at 12:00, 14:30 and 15:00 on the progress of voting and finally at 17:00 upon the closing of the polling stations across the country.

The results of each PAN polling station will be collected through an encrypted transmission system of SMS messaging, with password and ID code, which will then be sent to the Executive President. For locations where cell phone reception is limited, the data transmission will be through fixed or rural telephones, which will also have particular codes. A third way of voting is through the internet, which also has an encrypted system. Voting opened at 10 AM.

It is expected that the national president, Cecilia Romero, as well as members of the National Executive Committee and the National Organising Committee for the Election, CEN, will convene at PAN headquarters after casting their vote to follow the election of the next PAN leader closely. The media room is open with 200 seats, with reporters across the country expected to show up for the announcement. There are over 200,000 militant PAN members expected to vote.
