Throughout the weekend, many criticized González’ lack of professionalism and sensitivity towards the sick patient. According to Zona Laja Bajío, Universidad del Valle de México’s board released a communicate informing these actions will not go unnoticed and the student in question will have to go through a disciplinary meeting, in which members of the institution will decide her fate.

González turned to her Facebook account to tried to clarify the situation, and this is what she wrote:

“Let’s see people who are sharing this link, this photo is from a while ago…And everyone is misinterpreting the photo, a while ago, while I was on duty, a lady who was very sick confided in me and shared some of her life situations, and since it was the first day of my internship I wanted to have a souvenir, I took several pictures and I asked for her permission to take one of the two of us, and she agreed, because of her illness, she couldn’t even close her mouth due to lack of breathing, I took that photo and other which I have saved in one of my computer’s albums, and for whatever reason this one made it out. All of the sudden I turn around and some of my friends are saying that this lady was about to die, and fortunately, that’s not true, she didn’t die…The photo started rolling around, and it ended up in bad hands, it got shared where it shouldn’t have been shared unfortunately and now I’m at the point where I could lose my education for it, my family is now involved, and I am dealing with other issues too…The photo is being shared my ‘yellow journalists’ that obviously only write what they see, not what it really is…I never did this with the intention of hurting anyone, or making fun of anyone, I am not like that, and I never will be….But someone with a lot of hate tried to hurt me, and they succeeded. This was a private photo, and nothing else. If I wanted to publish this, I would’ve done it myself, on my personal social media websites.”
