The Mentalist's 'Red John' saga is quickly drawing to a close. This Sunday's episode is titled simply 'Red John,' suggesting that the show might finally reveal who the elusive serial killer really is. The episode's synopsis reads "Patrick Jane finally comes face-to-face with Red John, the serial killer he's tracked since the madman murdered his wife and daughter. For 10 years, Jane has doggedly hunted his nemesis in his search for justice." This is a big moment and we cannot wait to finally find out!
Red John suspects have been considerably narrowed down over the last few weeks. And now it seems that viewers finally have an idea of who he might be: CBI director Gale Bertram. Heh as been on Jane's list for a while, he has the three red dots tattoo, survived the explosion and, most tellingly, he tried to kill Jane in hospital. But don't discount a final twist next week. This Red Dragon saga has been going for years: there might be room for one more reveal before it concludes.
We are going to learn a lot more about Tiger Tiger. 'Red Dragon' writer Jordan Harper told TVGuide.com that he wanted give a an idea of how and why a police officer could end up helping someone like Red John and being involved in the Tiger Tiger organization:
"I really wanted to lay out with that scene exactly how a dirty cop who is not a Red John acolyte could come to help a serial killer," Harper said. "And so I wanted to do my best to paint a portrait of a conflicted man who's in over his head, which I think would be a lot of these guys in the Tiger Tiger organization. Even if they're not good people - and they are, to a man, not good people - that doesn't mean that they are serial killers. But once you're in deep, you're in deep. It's as close to a mutual trust society as a mutual distrust society in a lot of ways."
