Talk show host Megyn Kelly expressed her frustrations with the efforts of the Los Angeles Fire Department, saying it is sending "obese" lesbians to save those affected by the wildfires raging in the greater Los Angeles area instead of "strong" men.

On Monday, the conservative commentator took to her podcast to angrily voice her criticisms of the firefighting efforts in Los Angeles County.

"I believe I speak for all females in Los Angeles when I say, we want a strong man to rescue us," Kelly said. "That's what we want. Do we ask for too much?"

Kelly targeted her disapproval towards the department's leadership, which includes only three women out of a 14-person team: Training and Support Bureau Commander Jaime Brown, Deputy Chief in Equity and Human Resources Bureau Kristine Larson and Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, the department's first LGBTQ+ leader who is also a 22-year veteran.

"These three women who are all at the top there ... I mean honestly, I'm not trying to be mean, but they're obese. These are overweight, out-of-shape women," she said.

"The last thing I want to see if I'm in a burning building is a) a woman, and b) an obese woman," Kelly continued.

Kelly went further in speaking about the role she believed transgender women could play in the fire department, stating she believed it should hire more people from that demographic to fulfill their priorities relating to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and that this was one area where she would support recruiting transgender women instead of cisgender ones.

"Let's get the fake women who want to invade our sports and redirect them to the fire department. That would be a great place for you to break barriers as a quote 'woman' in the firefighting realm where you still have all of your male advantage," Kelly stated.
