DailyMail spoke to Meghan's uncle recently. Mike Markle, who is 80 and lives in his humble trailer-park home in Florida, told the publication that he had given up hope of meeting with Meghan ever again. He further added that he and his brother Fred have accepted that Meghan seems to have cut all ties with her father side of the family. He said, "I doubt I'll hear from her again… even though I would like to.
He went on to say, "I don't understand her, the way she's treated her family. I'm not very fond of it." Mike also revealed that he was the one who pulled his diplomatic ties to secure an impressive internship when she was younger. "I've done more for her than others… I've probably done more for her than most have. I personally talked to the ambassador in Argentina for her," he said at the time.
His intervention managed to land her an internship the US Ambassador's office in Argentina. So, when Mike was not invited to the wedding, he was understandably disappointed because Meghan is family. He said, "I thought I would [get invited], but anyhow, I didn't hear from her."
He told DailyMail that even though he had Parkinson's Disease and a weak heart, he would have traveled all the way to England to walk his niece down the aisle after it was made public that her father was too unwell to attend the ceremony. Well over a year since the wedding, Doria Ragland, Meghan's mother, is the only relative that the Duchess stays in touch with.
Meghan's relationship with her other relatives have always been rocky, with her step-siblings regularly taking swipes at her during interviews and on social media. As a royal, it is understandable that she's decided to distance herself from the unnecessary drama as to keep her reputation intact and so that she could better focus on more important matters.
As for her uncle Mike though, he's revealed that his health has been steady. That, although, he no longer suffers from seizures, his hands still continue to shake from his Parkinsons. He's also recently had a new pacemaker put in.
