Meghan Markle had a major blunder in her first appearance since her explosive interview about her struggles as a royal. Following the release of the ITV documentary, Meghan attended the One Young World Summit and was caught in an awkward situation with charity founder Kate Robertson.
It can be recalled that Meghan graced an interview last week, where she talked about her struggles adjusting to royal life. The Duchess of Sussex discussed how all the media attention has taken its toll on her mental health and admitted how life has been hard on her since marrying into the royal family.
With everyone still talking about her controversial interview, Meghan Markle stepped out late last week to appear at the One Young World Summit, a non-profit organization for young leaders. The Duchess of Sussex has been supporting this UK-based charity since long before she met Prince Harry.
A clip from the event shows Meghan caught in an embarrassing situation with Robertson. After Robertson welcomed Meghan Markle onto the stage, the Duchess approached her with arms wide open. However, Robertson dropped into a curtsy at the last minute after struggling to remember the royal protocol.
In the clip, Robertson appeared to have forgotten how to properly welcome the Duchess of Sussex; hence, the curtsy. Meghan, on the other hand, appeared to have been startled by her gesture. With her arms still hung awkwardly in the air, Meghan waited for Robertson to hug her back but she didn’t.
Despite the blunder, the Duchess played it off coolly and laughed at the curtsy. Towards the end, the two women covered up for the mistake and hugged each other.
During the event, Meghan Markle was not able to escape questions from the crowd, especially from those who got worried after watching the explosive ITV documentary. Meghan revealed that her closest friends had advised her against marrying Prince Harry, as British tabloids might only “destroy” her life. The Duchess of Sussex also revealed how motherhood has been a struggle for her due to intense interest from tabloids.
While supporters of Prince Harry and Meghan praised them for being honest in the documentary, others saw it as an ill-judged move that only did their public image more harm than good.
