Venezuelans can enjoy McDonald’s french fries once again but for a pretty penny. Fusion reported that after a 10-month shortage, McDonald's French fries are being sold in Venezuela for around 800 bolívares, or the equivalent of $133. This is due to the difficult economic situation and the chronic shortages that are driven in part by the country's tight currency controls, which makes it hard to get dollars for imports and has forced the brand to changes their prices.

The fast food chain was finally able to get enough locally sourced fries to serve their stores’ needs, "the customers have been coming in really excited. But when we tell them the price, not so much," Yefferson Romero said to the Associated Press.

For the past 10 months, the fast food giant has been unable to serve french fries changing their menu option to other alternatives such as fried yuca, also known as cassava. The AP reported that "potato imports fell 85 percent in 2014, before McDonald’s took fries off the menu."
