Mary J Blige is clearly riding with Hilary Clinton, and we can’t blame her. After Clinton’s win against Donald Trump in last night’s first presidential debate, a preview of Blige’s sit down for her upcoming Beats 1 Radio show The 411, with the Democrat candidate was released.
The clip showcases Blige singing a song about justice and civil rights to Clinton, as she listens.
“If an officer stops you, always be polite/ And never ever run away/ Promise mama you will keep your hands in sight/Is it a gun? /Is it a knife? /Is it a wallet? / This is your life/ It ain't no secret, my friend/You can get killed just for living in your American skin," she sings, that covers Bruce Springsteen’s hit song “ American Skin (41 Shots). At the end of the song Blige asks Clinton: Where do we go from here?”
It's an important question which was discussed during the debate last night highlighting the Democratic candidate’s desire and plan for change.
Another video showcases Blige picking Clinton’s brain, asking her “A lot of people in my community think that Obama was blocked in Congress because he was black. How are you going to do what he was unable to do? The clip ends just before Clinton responds.
The preview is thought-provoking as viewers will soon get to see how Clinton means to realise her plans.
If the debate was any indication of Clinton’s demeanor, we can expect the candidate to answer these tough questions genuinely and honestly.
The interview serves as a special edition of The 411, and is set to air on September 30, exclusively through Apple Music. Blige is known for her blunt personality so we know that this is definitely one not to miss.
