“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” returns this week and as it enters in to week 4, it seems like the series itself and the on-screen characters will be more cohesive. In episode 4, “Eye Spy” the team will have to face off against one of their own, a S.H.I.E.L.D agent has gone rogue and is causing havoc for the team. Last week, we watched as Coulson, May, Ward, Fitzsimmons, and the newly minted field agent Skye tracked down one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most protected assets, Dr. Franklin Hall. And while the acquisition of Hall was vital, the mission’s most beneficial aspect was the team’s alignment. Coulson’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” are finally beginning to work together, as a team, which will be necessary if they are to outsmart one of their own.
Another continued theme from last week is the necessity of Agent May’s presence. Before May was referred to as “damaged” with her only objective being the ability to drive “the bus,” however now the veteran agent realizes just how much she is needed. In “Eye-Spy” fans will see May become more than just a chauffeur, channeling her true self and strength as she volunteers for combat in the field. And fans are the only ones happy with May’s return, the team also realizes her value. But May’s return will not be the sole focus of tonight’s episode, the team will have to track down a rogue agent. The agent is a female with extraordinary powers, who poses a large threat against S.H.I.E.L.D and everything they are attempting to protect. The agent was trained by the organization, so this week fans will watch as the Agents struggle to get one step ahead of their ally turned enemy. In the end, the team will have to do whatever it takes to shut her down, or maybe even “take her out” as the newly returned Agent May suggests.
In the promo video we learn that despite her extraordinary power, the rogue agent who was trained personally by Coulson is being controlled. But who could be powerful enough to control an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D? Be sure to tune in tonight on ABC at 8 pm to find out!
