In an effort to keep the Uruguayan Film Library open and raise awareness about the critical financial situation affecting the institution, LALA is mounting a campaign and launched a petition on social networks, which has already raised over 10,000 signatures. For this, director Martin Scorsese, Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler, Argentine actress Mercedes Moran and Spanish film director Javier Rebollo have put together 30-second videos, urging the South American country’s government to support their filmmakers.

The stars also expressed their wide support for the 63-year-old organization, which has maintained the film and image heritage of the country, consisting of almost 20,000 films. “A society that supports your film is a wise society. That's why I want to send this message to the Government and people of Uruguay,” Scorsese insisted.
