Marlen Esparza, a Mexican-American boxer, has posed nude for ESPN's 2013 Body Issue and has joined the likes for athletes like Kerri Walsh, Matt Harvey and Colin Kaepernick. The 23-year-old Olympic medalist is one of several athletes who posed nude to tribute the bodies of athletes.
"[My first reaction was] no, not my beat not my style, but I saw the issues and I saw the website and it wasn't raunchy it was athletes," Esparza told ESPN in the behind-the scenes video for the Body Issue.

Esparza has been sponsored by Nike and Coca-Cola and is the first amateur boxer to have been signed with CoverGirl. At just five feet three inches tall, Esparza is clearly a beautiful woman and a fitting candidate to be featured about appreciating an athlete's body. In a previous interview, the bronze-medal winning boxer told interviewers that she has always avoided the stereotypical "boxer body."

In her interview with ESPN, Esparza reveals: "I imagine the fight over and over. I imagine my opponent, I imagine what she's throwing, what I'm going to throw back. Sometimes I win the fight, sometimes I lose. I just imagine every scenario--that way when I get in the ring it's not as intimidating, it's like I've already done it."
