Marimar Vega Hospitalized Following Emergency During Series Filming

Mexican actress Marimar Vega was hospitalized due to an unexpected severe case of hepatitis on the very first day of filming the second season of her medical series "Dra. Lucía, un don extraordinario."

"I felt awful, I was very tired, and everyone kept asking me what was wrong, to which I only replied that I felt really bad. Around 7 in the evening we were changing sets and I saw my eyes, and they were yellow. That's when we said: 'Let's go to the emergency room,' and they didn't let me leave the hospital because I had extremely high liver enzymes, and it seems it was caused by something I ate," explained Marimar herself in an interview.

All this happened while she was in the middle of filming another project in the Mexican city of Guadalajara, directed by Manolo Caro (La Casa de las Flores), where she consumed something that gave her hepatitis.

How is Marimar Vega doing?

The actress spent a week under medical observation until her vitals stabilized. Once her health recovered, she sent a message to viewers, warning them to be cautious about what they eat "because hepatitis can also come from consuming raw fish, contaminated water, or improperly washed food."

During an interview with the show "Ventaneando", Marimar revealed details about the incident that led to the suspension of filming for several days. She also shared a curious fact about her health: both times she had been hospitalized, she was playing Lucía Castillo, the protagonist of her series.

The first season of "Dra. Lucía, un don extraordinario" tells the story of an emergency doctor dedicated to saving lives in a hospital. After suffering an accident, Lucía gains a strange gift that allows her to detect, just by touching her patients, crucial information about their diseases, even in cases where conventional medicine cannot help.

This supernatural ability allows her to save lives in critical situations, adding a mystical touch to the series. This mix of medical drama and magical elements attracted a large audience on TV Azteca, where the show is produced and aired.

With her recovery, the sister of Zuria Vega and daughter of the late actor Gonzalo Vega was able to resume filming. The second season will premiere next Monday, October 21, at 9:30 p.m. on Azteca.
