Amid Donald Trump's bid for a second term as U.S. president, several comments and posts about women have cast a shadow over his campaign, sparking discontent from figures like journalist María Celeste Arrarás.

The Puerto Rican-born presenter took to her social media to express her indignation after the former U.S. president reposted a meme featuring Hilary Clinton and Kamala Harris.

"Donald Trump doesn't respect women at all. He retweeted a meme of Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris that someone posted, mocking how their political careers were supposedly affected differently by performing oral sex," María Celeste began her text.
She then continued exposing Trump, claiming that he aimed to discredit Harris, suggesting that she supposedly rose to her current position "by doing sexual favors—something unfounded."

Arrarás defended these two women and stated that both are successful and deserve respect. "Every woman deserves respect," she added.

To avoid "perpetuating the insult," María Celeste shared the reposted post, although she removed the accompanying text. She concluded by saying: "It's disgusting that a man sponsors such denigrating and sexist actions against women... much more so a former president who intends to return to the White House."

María Celeste had her run-in with Trump during a debate in February 2016. The journalist had to stand against the then-candidate to do her job.

The former president has faced over a dozen sexual abuse lawsuits. One of these cases involved writer E. Jean Carroll. In 2023, a jury sentenced him to pay her $83.3 million for his abuse.

This year, the Republican candidate was found guilty of 35 crimes related to his efforts to cover up an inappropriate sexual encounter. To hide the episode, he illegally used campaign funds. He is currently awaiting sentencing.

The exclusion of his wife from the presidential campaign

Another detail that has powerfully caught the attention of those following Trump's rallies and appearances ahead of the presidential election is the absence of his wife, Melania Trump.

She has only made one public appearance alongside her husband in recent months. The former president's children and several of his grandchildren were also present at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee when this occurred. It was the second time they had been seen together in nearly two years.

According to the media present, the former first lady appeared enthusiastic as she listened to her husband's speech accepting the Republican presidential nomination, although she did not make any remarks—a first in convention history.
