Manchester United is reportedly trying to seal a contract and add Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior to their squad.

According to El Naciona, United is looking to end any negative publicity surrounding the club by signing the PSG player.

It was recently announced that the manager's position at Old Trafford is currently vacant as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stepped down after United's 4-1 defeat to Watford. The Red Devils have now been linked with many names who could take the lead at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer was given the job permanently. Though he did a lot of good work before, he was eventually dismissed. The team has been in consecutive defeats, including games with Liverpool and their neighbor rivals, Manchester City.

For now, Solskjaer's assistant, Michael Carrick, has been assigned as temporary in-charge while the team looks for an interim manager until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Man Utd could enter the January transfer window looking to sign in with several players. There are rumors that the club could make an attempt to sign the Brazilian legend Neymar.

The club seemed to be planning to add more power to their frontline. The Brazilian broke all transfer records when he signed for the French club in 2017 for an eye-watering €222 million ($295.3 million). Since then, he has been a brilliant player for the Parisians, contributing to 145 goals in 128 appearances across all competitions.

In 2017, Neymar said, "Paris St-Germain's ambition attracted me to the club, along with the passion and the energy this brings," according to BBC. "I feel ready to take the challenge. From today, I will do everything I can to help my new team-mates."

The 29-year-old teamed up with Lionel Messi this season. Neymar brought PSG to the final in 2020 but failed in the semi-final stage last season. However, Neymar was said to be determined to remain in his team without any interest in switching to England.

Manchester United sepent a massive amount of money to bring players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho to the club, but they still seem to suffer under major defeats.
