As the January transfer window comes to a close, multiple teams across the international spectrum of soccer continue to explore ways of improving their current rosters. Usual transfer period players in Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Arsenal have all been linked to possible transactions -- with United recently acquiring Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata -- and while these clubs and others remain fixated on various players, certain footballers are looking for ways to depart their current clubs, including one striker who has grown into a fan-favorite in the Premier League despite a low amount of playing time.

According to multiple sources, current Manchester United striker Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández is seeking a departure from the Red Devils due to his current role in first-year head coach David Moyes' system. Hernandez has developed into a premier scorer in the international game since latching on with his native Mexico in 2009 and although he's been able to register over 30 goals in nearly 60 matches with El Tri, the 25-year-old Guadalajara native isn't exactly thrilled with the way he's been utilized at Old Trafford. His totals of 57 goals in 140 matches for United since joining the club in 2010 are more than respectable but the arrival of David Moyes has meant decreased time with the first XI.

Making just 10 starts in 35 total matches with the defending Premier League champions this season, Hernandez is highly interested in quitting Manchester United, especially since he fears his lack of playing time could significantly hinder his chances of playing for Miguel Herrera and El Tri during the upcoming World Cup in Brazil. Even with two and a half years remaining on his contract, Hernandez does not feel Old Trafford is the best fit for him moving forward and it certainly does appear that his time in Red is coming to an end.

Previous reports indicated that the Arsenal Gunners -- who currently lead the competitive Barclays Premier League by one point over Manchester City -- were highly interested in Hernandez and while the club could certainly make a play for Hernandez before the winter transfer period expires, Emirates boss Arsene Wenger isn't sure that he's ready to make a big splash with just over a week remaining. Speaking to reporters earlier in the week, the Gunners head coach indicated that he would be open to the idea of reeling in a player of Hernandez's caliber but only if an eye-popping chance came his way.

“It is 23 January today and at the moment I must say we are not close to doing anything,” he said. “I feel a bit guilty always going to a press conference during the transfer market and having nobody to announce but I don't want to lie. We have Chamberlain back, Bendtner back and I hope next week Arteta and Ramsey back, so I feel overall we have the squad needed. We have Yaya Sanogo coming back into the squad next week as well. Overall we have a very strong squad. If something exceptional turns up we will do it but having said that not everybody will strengthen. They buy, but buy does not always mean strengthen.”
