Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to leave Old Trafford this summer if Manchester United fails to qualify for the Champions League.
The Portuguese superstar has currently scored 14 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for Man Utd after rejoining the team from Juventus in the summer transfer window. However, with the team's inconsistent performances and underwhelming form, the squad is seventh in the Premier League list. Man Utd is 24 points off Manchester City. The Red Devils have won just three out of their last seven games.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has reportedly been shocked at the lack of intensity and attention at Old Trafford compared to what he was used to during his previous time at United between 2003 and 2009.
Ronaldo previously said in an interview with The Sun, "Manchester United should win the league, or be in second or third. I don't see other positions for Manchester United to be honest, I don't see it. In my eyes I don't accept that our mentality be less than to be in the top three in the Premier League in my opinion."
Ronaldo believed the club could still turn things around, despite issues of a dressing room rift. With the tension between the players off the game, things could get worse as it has now been said that Ronaldo could leave at the end of the season. Also, following all the club's significant adjustments, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's replacement by interim boss Ralf Rangnick in November seemingly impacted and led the team to their weak performances.
Like other players, Ronaldo is also adjusting to the new interim boss. The 36-year-old striker was recently seen furious after being substituted during Man Utd's Premier League game with Brentford on Wednesday. After returning from a hip injury that made him miss the last two games, Ronaldo seemed frustrated as Rangnick replaced him during the 71st minute, together with Mason Greenwood. Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford were brought on in place of Ronaldo and Greenwood. The game made Man Utd turn the match on its head as the Red Devils won 3-1 against Brentford.
