Man Shoots, Kills Ex-Wife While She Was Celebrating Thanksgiving Dinner

A man reportedly entered a home in Springs Beach, Houston, Texas, and shot and killed his ex-wife who was celebrating Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 24.

The suspect, who is believed to be the victim's ex-husband, forced his way through the back door of a house in the 1500 block of Baggett Lane in Springs Beach, Houston at around 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24. After forcing his way in, the suspect opened fire at his ex-wife and four other people who were inside the house. They were celebrating Thanksgiving dinner and had just finished eating when the shooting occurred, PennLive reported.

As he ran out of bullets, the suspect reloaded his weapon and continued firing at the people inside. Meanwhile, the people inside the house ran to rooms for safety as they heard the shooting.

According to Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu, the shooter’s ex-wife and another man were struck by the gunfire and died from their injuries. Another man and a 15-year-old were also shot in the incident. They were transported to an area hospital for emergency treatment. The man is reported to be in critical condition while the 15-year-old boy is in stable condition at a hospital, KSAT 12 reported.

After the shooting, the suspect left the home before officers arrived. Officers have not identified the suspect and have launched an investigation to find him at the earliest.

“The families were celebrating, they just finished eating. The suspect, who is known to be the ex-husband of the deceased female, came into the back door and just started firing at the people inside the house,” Cantu said.

“There were four other people inside the house. As soon as they heard the shooting, they ran to the rooms for safety,” Cantu said. “The suspect discharged multiple rounds and even reloaded his weapon at the scene.”

Cantu stated that the shooting was a “domestic-related incident.”

Friends were invited to the dinner. Officers added that they are unsure regarding who owned the home and whether the victims were related to each other.

The suspect and the woman who was killed have a child together.

The officers have launched an investigation in connection with the incident and further probe is underway.
