Man Shoots, Kills Daughter To Prevent Her From Attending Neighbor's Wedding

A man reportedly shot and killed his daughter to prevent her from attending a neighbor's wedding. The incident reportedly happened in the village of Al Wahss in the Dhi Al Saffal district of Ibb governorate in Yemen.

The accused, a Yemen father, whose identity has not been revealed, reportedly got enraged after his daughter asked his permission to attend the wedding of their neighbor. Enraged and in a fit of rage, the father severely beat her up as punishment. After beating her up, in a fit of rage, the accused pulled out a gun and shot her dead, Gulf News reported.

The father is reportedly known for his harsh treatment of his children, especially girls. He had previously prevented one of his daughters from attending school. There were also reports that one of his daughters was rescued years ago after being severely beaten up.

Recently, similarly, a Houthi militant set his wife and mother ablaze following a heated argument in the west of the capital Sana'a.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man allegedly shot and killed his 16-year-old daughter for being in a relationship with a man from another religion in the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, India on Friday, Sept. 16, as previously reported.

The accused, identified as 56-year-old Mughees Ahmed, was reportedly against his 16-year-old daughter’s relationship with a youth who belonged to another religion. On Friday, Sept. 16, a heated argument ensued between the daughter and Ahmed regarding the issue. As the confrontation escalated, Ahmed, in a fit of rage, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot his minor daughter dead.

When local law enforcement later questioned Ahmed, he admitted to the officers that he had objected to his daughter's relationship several times. However, despite his objections and his warnings, his teen daughter had eloped with the youth around a month ago. Recently, after the girl's relatives promised her that they will convince Ahmed to agree to their marriage, the victim returned back to her home village.

On Friday, Sept. 16, the father and the daughter engaged in another argument, following which, the accused pulled out a countrymade gun and, in a fit of rage, shot his daughter dead.

Following the incident, police arrested Ahmed and booked him on charges of murder.
