A New Mexico man, who is the person of interest in the death of his former wife, allegedly admitted to killing 16 people.

The man, Sean M. Lannon, 47, has been charged in New Jersey with the murder of a 66-year-old man named Michael Dabkowski on March 8, whose body was reportedly found at his East Greenwich Township apartment.

Lannon was later arrested in Missouri while driving the victim's car.

He was already linked to the murders of his ex-wife and three other's in New Mexico.

Later, Lannon admitted that he was responsible for the killings in New Jersey and New Mexico and claimed he had killed “11 other individuals," Alec Gutierrez, an assistant prosecutor in Gloucester county, said on Friday as reported by The Guardian.

“He admitted to killing a total of 16 people … 15 being in New Mexico and one in the state of New Jersey. It’s my understanding that the FBI is assisting New Mexico in their investigation," Gutierrez said.

On March 5, the bodies of Lannon's ex-wife, Jennifer Lannon, and three other people were found in a truck at an Albuquerque airport garage. Shortly after this, the police named Lannon as a person of interest.

On Monday, New Mexico authorities said that charges against Lannon for the deaths of his ex-wife and three others were imminent. Lannon is yet to enter a plea to the murder charge he is facing in New Jersey.

"He told the witness he was extremely sorry for all the things he had done. He stated that he murdered his wife and [her] boyfriend in New Mexico and that he also murdered Michael Dabkowski in New Jersey," said Gutierrez.

Jennifer's family is shocked by the confession. "It's a senseless act for not only one, but a total of 16 people. It is just... I can't even imagine what drove him to do that," said Jennifer's brother, Chris Whitman.
