Man Kills Sister's Husband, Chops His Head Off For Marrying Sibling Without Family's Consent

A man has been accused of shooting his sister's husband to death and later chopping the victim's head off for marrying his sister without her family's consent in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India on Monday, April 18.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Jakky, a resident of Gali Khatikan locality in Sardhana in Meerut district, was reportedly in a relationship with the accused Anshu's sister. However, when the couple expressed their desire to get married, Anshu and his family members opposed their union and refused the marriage proposal.

However, without taking the girl's family's opposition into consideration, Jakky and the accused's sister married against her parents' wishes. This upset Anshu and the girl's family members. The family, who were unhappy with the relationship, repeatedly threatened the couple after their marriage, India Today reported.

On Monday morning, April 18, members of the girl's family barged into Jakky's house and allegedly shot him dead. After killing the man, they proceeded to decapitate his body. The girl, who tried to intervene and stop the killing, was also attacked.

Hearing the screams from the victim's house, neighbors immediately rushed to the crime scene. Following this, Sardana police were alerted. The officers swung into action and took the injured girl to a hospital for medical treatment.

Following the incident, the authorities launched an investigation into the incident and have taken Anshu into police custody.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a girl was allegedly murdered in her sleep by her own father and his brothers for refusing to marry the man of their choice in Gopalganj town, Bihar, India on March 6, Latin Times reported.

The 19-year-old victim, Kiran, was reportedly brutally killed by her own father, Indradeo Ram, and his brothers after she rebuffed their attempts at arranging a marriage between her and a man named Nati Sharma. Kiran was reportedly vocal in her dislike for Sharma and vehemently disapproved of the union as she wanted to marry another boy, with whom she was supposedly in love.

Enraged by her opposition to the arranged marriage, Ram along with his two brothers, stormed his daughter Kiran’s room in an inebriated state while she was asleep and attacked her before allegedly killing her by slitting her throat. After the murder, the drunk Ram and his brother dumped her body at an agricultural field at Kotwa village.
