A man reportedly killed his elderly mother by pushing her from the first floor of their home after he disliked the lunch that she had prepared for him in New Ashok Nagar, Ludhiana, Punjab, India on Monday, Oct. 17.
The accused, identified as 26-year-old Surinder Singh alias Tinku, disliked the vegetable dish in the lunch that his 65-year-old mother Charanjit Kaur had prepared for him on Monday, Oct. 17 afternoon. Irritated over the food, Tinku asked his mother to cook something else for him, Indian Express reported.
However, Kaur refused her son's demand and asked him to eat what was cooked. Upset over his mother's reaction, Tinku lost his temper and, in a fit of rage, started brutally thrashing his mother. As Tinku started thrashing her, the woman tried to escape from her son and ran up to the first floor of the house in her defense.
However, the accused followed her up to the first floor and pushed her down from the first floor. The woman suffered severe injuries in the fall. However, the accused didn’t stop at that and took a stick lying around and further thrashed her. Seeing their son brutally thrash his wife, the victim's husband Gurnam Singh tried to intervene and stop the assault. However, the accused thrashed him with the stick as well and fled the scene.
Following this, Gurnam raised an alarm for help. The neighbors who heard the cries for help rushed to their aid. Gurnam then rushed his wife to the hospital with the help of neighbors for immediate treatment. However, despite their best efforts, Kaur succumbed to her injuries and died on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Following the incident, Amrik Singh, nephew of the victim, revealed that Tinku has always been short-tempered. Tinku was not employed at the time of the incident.
Following the victim's death, Inspector Gagandeep Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Salem Tabri police station, said that a murder case was registered against Tinku in connection with the incident. The officers have launched an investigation to nab Tinku who is currently on the run.
