Man Dies Trying To Save One Of His Girlfriends Who Jumped Into The Sea To Kill Herself

A man, who was in a relationship with two women at the same time, reportedly died after he attempted to save one of his paramours who had jumped into the sea in an attempt to kill themself. The tragic incident happened in Someshwara beach in Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, India on Friday, Jan. 28.

The 28-year-old man, identified as Lloyd D’Souza, of Eliyarpadav, had reportedly summoned both his girlfriends to the beach at Someshwar to sort out the issues between them after both parties discovered that he had been cheating on them. However, during the meeting, a heated argument ensued between the trio and one of the women attempted to take their own life by jumping into the deep portion of Someshwara beach, India Today reported.

After seeing the girl jump into the riptide, Llyod also jumped after her in an attempt to save her. He subsequently managed to do so and helped lift her out of the water. However, the current then surged so strong that he couldn’t stay afloat. The waves struck his head against a rock formation near the shore. Bystanders who witnessed the incident later dived in and pulled his unconscious body out of the water. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment. However, the doctors at the facility declared him dead on arrival.

The girlfriend Lloyd had rescued was also rushed to the hospital by the bystanders and is reportedly now in stable condition, News18 reported.

The officers have registered a case in connection with the incident at Ullal Police Station.

Llyod, who previously worked in Abu Dhabi, had returned to his hometown at the height of the COVUD-19 pandemic. While he was staying in his native city, he had befriended the two women separately. He then got into a relationship with one of the women and started an affair with the other.

“All three were in constant argument for a few days as to whom should the guy choose finally," N Shashikumar, who serves as the Police Commissioner of Mangaluru, said.

"Llyod decided to end this once and for all and hence called both the women to the beach. When he jumped into the sea to save the woman, local people tried to save him, but couldn’t. The woman who was saved is recovering in hospital," he continued.
