A Florida man working at a landfill was reportedly crushed to death in a freak accident after the port-a-potty he was using was run over by a bulldozer on Friday, March. 4.
On Friday, March. 4, Aaron Henderson, 40, who was employed by CertiTemp, a company contracted by Polk County to work in sanitation, was reportedly using a portable restroom at the Polk County North Central Landfill when tragedy struck.
Henderson's co-worker, John Johnson, 56, was driving a bulldozer up an embankment with the front blade raised 3 to 4 feet off the ground when it plowed into the port-a-potty the victim was using. Since the blade was raised off the ground, it obstructed the driver's view while he was on the incline, Daily News reported.
“The driver negotiated up the embankment toward the staging area, and once on level ground, he began to turn his bulldozer and heard a loud crumble,” the sheriff’s office said.
After hearing the loud noise, Johnson jumped off the bulldozer to check if anyone was inside the portable bathroom and found Henderson unresponsive inside. Henderson was subsequently declared dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services personnel, NBC News reported.
At around 5 p.m. later that day, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Polk County Fire Rescue responded to the Polk County North Central Landfill after they were notified about the gruesome accident.
The sheriff’s office characterized the incident as “a tragic, industrial accident” and Henderson's manner of death has since been officially ruled accidental.
Meanwhile, Martha Santiago, Polk County Board of County Commissioners chair, also called the incident "tragic."
“Our Board asks that you keep the family and friends of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers," she said.

At around 7:30 a.m on Thursday morning, March 3, the coroner’s office was called to the site of the gruesome incident in Parachute, Colorado, where Anna was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation conducted by the Parachute police ruled Anna's death as accidental.
