A soccer player from the football club of Manchester City faces accusations of rape on Thursday as one of his alleged victims testified that he had bragged to her about sleeping with 10,000 women before telling her to keep quiet about their affair.
Benjamin Mendy, a 28-year-old French soccer player and defender for the Manchester City Football Club, faces rape and sexual assault charges from eight different women, with one of them testifying on Thursday that he had raped her after trapping her in a room with him, according to the Daily Beast.
The woman, who was not named, met Mendy during a party at his home that she attended with her three friends. He reportedly took her phone and looked at her Snapchat before going upstairs to a bedroom with her phone. She reportedly asked him for her phone back, but he would not give it back unless she stripped naked, the BBC reported.
She relented after seeing it as the “lesser of two evils,” and he threw the phone onto the bed after she undressed. When she went to the bed to get her phone, however, he forced himself onto her despite her telling him “no” multiple times.
“My body was so tense. It was just this pain,” she said. She testified that she was raped three times by the man, and that although it only lasted 15 minutes, it “felt like the longest day of my life.”
After the encounter, Mendy reportedly boasted to her that he has had sex with over 10,000 women, before giving her a warning not to tell others, saying that she could have a repeat sexual encounter with him if she kept quiet.
“I'm absolutely certain, in high definition in my mind, it's the most traumatizing thing that has ever happened to me,” the woman said.
Mendy has denied the charges, and has said that any sexual intercourse that he had done was consensual. He is on trial alongside his fellow Manchester City defender Louis Saha Matturie, who has also denied the rape charges that he currently faces.
