An Akron RubberDucks fan paid $ 5 to send a scoreboard message during a baseball game to break up with his girlfriend on Saturday, Aug.21.

The seventh-inning scoreboard message, sponsored by Ohio Amish Country during the match between Akron RubberDucks and Harrisburg Senators on Saturday, was filled with traditional well wishes, but the viewers were flabbergasted to see one of the messages.

As recorded by ESPN’s Daniela Marulanda, a fan named Tim used the screams of his fans to break up with his girlfriend with the message, "Alyssa, this relationship is over.-Tim."

The incident went viral on the internet after Marulanda shared it on her social media profile.

Jack Haynes, Creative Services Coordinator at Rubberdax, confirmed to 3News that the message was for real and that the fan who purchased it paid $5 to do so.

However, Haynes was not available to verify the identities of either Tim or Alyssa.

"We don't know Tim or Alyssa right now," Haines said in an email to 3News.

"Fan shoutouts are submitted without us asking for any type of ID so we don't know who they are. Maybe our fans can help us."

Netizens took a dig at the incident in the comment box.

"I mean I hope they were the only Alyssa and Tim couple at the game or it could of gotten awkward for a lot more people," one user wrote.

"Who agrees to put that on the board? Like, say no dude," wrote another.

"Real men don’t get down like this," a third user wrote.

"She'll find a way to get back at him even worst," one commented

"Some people are in denial even after being told that the relationship is over already. And they might even have been told with a stress on OVER. Hopefully, this is one of those times. But then again, the scoreboard might have been too small. Try an airplane next, dude," one comment read.
