An English man reportedly blindfolded a pregnant woman with the promise of "kinky sex," but ended up secretly drugging her with abortion pills that forced her to miscarry.

Stuart Worby, 40, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Friday after he was convicted of sexual assault and administering a poison or using an instrument with intent to induce a miscarriage, as reported by the BBC.

Worby reportedly gave the woman a glass of orange juice while she was blindfolded, which contained a crushed up tablet of the abortion drug mifepristone, as reported by the Eastern Daily Press.

The August 2022 incident ended with the woman miscarrying in the hospital after she had a serious reaction to the medication, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The woman wrote in her impact statement that was read in court that since the incident, she has had trouble conceiving with her new partner.

Judge Joel Brennathan said to the court, as reported by the BBC, "You must have known this was dangerous for the victim. She spoke of the betrayal and pain and the strong possibility that you have stolen the one possibility she had to be a mother. You are a selfish man."

Similar instances of men drugging their female partners have also been reported in the U.S.

In February, a Texas man was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he secretly gave his wife abortion medication in an attempt to cause a miscarriage, as reported by the Associated Press.

In May, a Massachusetts man was charged after he allegedly gave his girlfriend mifepristone under the guise that he was giving her vitamins and supplements, causing her to miscarry, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.
