A man from Kansas was arrested Wednesday by the US Secret Service and charged with threatening to assassinate US President Joe Biden. Scott Merryman earlier claimed he had been told by God to travel to Washington DC and “lop off the head of of the serpent in the heart of the nation.” Last week, the construction contractor took the wheel and drove off on his mission from Independence, Kansas.

According to CNN, Secret Service agents intercepted Merryman in Hagerstown, Maryland in a parking lot of a Cracker Barrel restaurant. In a criminal complaint filed against him, Merryman allegedly told the agents he was on his way to deliver a message to President Biden. He continued on referencing comments about God, as he went on to say his mission was to advise Biden that people are “fed up with the divisiveness in the country” and to “ turn back to God or got to hell”.

On Jan. 25, the White House switchboard operator received a call from Merryman shortly after 11 am. Court records state that he had made threats against Biden allegedly saying he was on his way to the White House on a mission to cut off the head of the anti-christ snake.

At that point, the White House operator got hold of the Secret Service to speak with Merryman in an effort to draw out more information on his intentions. However, Merryman denied he was referring to the President as the serpent, but stated he had information on the Book of Revelation that was instructed by God for him to give to the Biden.

During their conversation, the caller went on and said, “I’m coming for his b*tch a** sleepy Joe. I’m talking about President Biden and you can quote me.” Unfazed, Merryman continued to make numerous comments about God and how he was being guided by God, was “cloaked in the blood of the lamb”, and that he was “armored by God.”

In an effort to keep him on the phone and trace his location, the Secret Service agent kept him talking as we went on with his threats and said: "I'm coming with three bullets no guns. You got two minutes, and then I'm coming," he told the agent. "That's it! You're dead!"

When the agents located him at the parking lot, they found a loaded magazine with three rounds of .45 caliber ammunition along with a spotting scope in his backpack, However, he had no weapons on him. Merryman explained to the agents that God told him to bring the said ammo to do “recon”.

Court records revealed the Secret Service had probable cause to arrest Merryman, as he had also been found to have been posting a series of increasingly threatening verbiage on Facebook between Jan, 25 to Jan. 27, 2022.
