Man Arrested For Repeatedly Raping Minor Daughter For Seven Years

A man has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping his minor daughter and subjecting her to numerous abuses for the past seven years in Ambala, Haryana, India.

The unnamed victim, who is now 17 and a student in a government school at Ambala Cantonment, has accused her father of recurring assault, claiming she has first raped when she was just 10 years old and in third grade. She recounted that the sexual abuse continued for the last seven years.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld from the public, was reportedly forced to keep the abuse a secret because she was threatened with dire consequences by her father if she spoke about the incidents to anyone, Indian Express reported.

The recurring rape came to light after the girl’s maternal uncle visited her at school on Tuesday, Aug. 30. For undisclosed reasons, the victim had narrated her horrifying situation to him. Following this, the uncle then took her to the school principal to seek assistance in reporting the father's alleged abuse to the police.

In her official complaint, the girl stated that her father first molested her seven years ago while she and her family members were in Chandigarh, India to visit a relative. She narrated that her father continued raping her after the family returned home. The victim added that the suspect also threatened to burn her and her mother alive if she disclosed the incident to anyone, the Tribune reported.

A police team subsequently arrested the girl’s father from his home and charged him with offences under the POCSO Act (Protection Of Children from Sexual Offenses Act) and under other relevant sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code).

In a similar but unrelated incident, a father has been sentenced to 25 years in prison on Monday, April 5, for allegedly repeatedly raping his own minor daughter when she was barely 13 years old from 2020 to 2021 in Mumbai, India, Latin Times reported.

The 13-year-old victim reportedly lived in a cramped and small room with seven to eight family members, including her grandparents, uncle, father, and two younger siblings.

The frequent abuse finally came to light on May 4, 2021, after the girl’s grandmother noticed something suspicious about the victim's menstrual cycle and questioned her about it. The distraught young girl revealed that her father had forced himself on the teen several times in the past year.

The victim narrated that her father was usual under the influence of alcohol when the recurring abuses transpired. Following this, the grandmother filed a case against the 37-year-old father. He was subsequently arrested and brought before the court to face rape charges where he was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years behind bars.
