A 54-year-old Staten Island man, who is accused of sending out death threats to kill Joe Biden supporters, pleaded guilty on Monday to illegally possessing a gun.
Brian Maiorana was arrested in November after he posted explosive anti-Semitic messages on social media that called for the “extermination” of Democrats and mentioned a “Jew Senator from Jew York,” which seemed to be a reference to US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Back then, a search warrant was executed at Maiorana’s Staten Island home where a handgun, parts for a second gun, ammo, a crossbow and a taser were found.
It was just on Monday that Maiorana, who was also convicted of statutory sexual assault in Pennsylvania in 2007, pleaded guilty only to possessing the gun and the ammunition, reported New York Daily News.
“On or about November 10, 2020 on Staten Island in my home I had a firearm and I knew I had a felony conviction,” said Maiorana in a pre-written admittance of guilt that he read from during a Monday court appearance in Brooklyn Federal Court.
Mairoana faces up to 10 years in prison on the felony weapon charge.
But his guilty plea had nothing to do with him sending the threats, which he was initially charged with.
“It‘s come to the point where pipe bombs need to be thrown into these mobs of potentially non violent violent protesters,” Maiorana wrote on Oct. 19, according to the complaint against him.
It was Democrat Joe Biden's 2020 presidential election victory that had made Maiorana angry. “All right thinking people need to hit the streets while these scumbags are celebrating and start blowing them away,” he posted on social media, according to the federal agents.
Meanwhile, 37-year-old Brendan Hunt, who works for the state court system, is on trial for threatening to kill prominent Democrats like Schumer and US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D- Queens/Bronx).
In other news, the Biden administration is looking to enlist state-licensed shelter and foster care providers to help provide temporary housing for several unaccompanied migrant children arriving at the southern border.
There has been a significant rise in the number of unaccompanied children from Central America at the southwest border, with 18,890 in March. It was a 100 percent increase from February, reported Yahoo! News.
