Mahmoud Khalil's Deportation Will Be 'First of Many to Come,' Trump Says: 'You Are Not Welcome Here'

Despite national protests and politicians calling for the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestine activist detained by ICE over the weekend, President Donald Trump issued a stark warning while doubling down on the former Columbia University grad student's detainment.

"Following my previously signed Executive Orders, ICE proudly apprehended and detained Mahmoud Khalil, a Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student on the campus of Columbia University," Trump wrote, referring to Khalil's peaceful anti-genocide activism.

"This is the first arrest of many to come," Trump continued. "We know there are more students at Columbia and other Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity, and the Trump Administration will not tolerate it."

"Many are not students, they are paid agitators," Trump stated, despite no evidence of such instances existing.

"We will find, apprehend, and deport these terrorist sympathizers from our country — never to return again. If you support terrorism, including the slaughtering of innocent men, women, and children, your presence is contrary to our national and foreign policy interests, and you are not welcome here," he added.

"We expect every one of America's Colleges and Universities to comply. Thank you!" Trump concluded.

Columbia University has been a hotspot for pro-Palestinian activism, which is why Trump pulled $400 million in federal funding to the university for not addressing antisemitism, according to The New York Times.

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights is also investigating 60 universities across the nation, including Boston University, Sarah Lawrence College, Harvard and Yale, for antisemitic discrimination and harassment, prompted by Trump's Executive Order "Additional Measures to Combat Antisemitism," signed on Jan. 29.

ICE agents arrested Khalil, and threatened to arrest his 8-month pregnant wife who is a U.S. citizen, from his apartment on Saturday. As of Monday, a clear charge hadn't been filed against Khalil while he remains detained in a facility in Louisiana.
