Not only is Lupita Nyong’o the “Most Beautiful Person of 2014” according to People, but she is also incredibly adorable. The Mexican-born Kenyan actress has a grace to her that goes beyond her physical beauty. We all remember her wise words back in February at Essence magazine’s annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon: “I want to take this opportunity to talk about beauty, black beauty, dark beauty,” said Nyong'o, while adding that she used to pray about waking up to lighter skin. "But around me the preference for light skin prevailed, to the beholders that I thought mattered I was still unbeautiful.”

“And my mother again would say to me you can’t eat beauty, it doesn’t feed you and these words plagued and bothered me; I didn’t really understand them until finally I realized that beauty was not a thing that I could acquire or consume, it was something that I just had to be. And what my mother meant when she said you can’t eat beauty was that you can’t rely on how you look to sustain you. What is fundamentally beautiful is compassion for yourself and for those around you.”

After teaching us we are all beautiful in our own way, Lupita now teaches us how to laugh, because a world without laughter would be a very somber and boring place. The actress, who is fluent in four languages including Spanish, was invited to Mexico’s version of “Sesame Street,” “Plaza Sésamo.” In a very happy voice, she said hi to all the kids watching the show and introduced herself. Then she said it was “World Laughter Day” and taught kids how to laugh.

“Hello! I am Lupita,” she said in Spanish. Today I would like us to celebrate “World Laughter Day.” Do you know how to laugh? Me too! Why don’t we laugh together? Ready? One, two, three!” Scroll down to see the video below and listen to Lupita’s flawless Spanish!
