Lululemon has recalled its Luon black yoga pants for being too sheer. The yoga pants were pulled from shelves in March for being see-through.
Lululemon Athletica Inc. has stated that the sheerness of the Luon black yoga pants was caused due to style and production changes. It hired a new team to oversee the making of the pants, which cost about $72 to $98. The company has said it expects to lose $57 million to $67 million in revenue because of the pants problem.
The production blunder will also cost Lululemon its CEO. Lululemon's chief product officer is resigning two weeks after the company embarrassingly had to recall a line of see-through yoga pants. CEO Sheree Waterson will depart on April 15, after five years at the athletics company.
"We appreciate the many contributions that Sheree made during her time with Lululemon, particularly in the area of design," Lululemon CEO Christine Day said in a statement.
The black yoga pants "had an unacceptable level of sheerness," the company offered full refunds to customers who bought the workout pants. The Luon black yoga pants were once one of Lululemon's most popular items.
And now the pants are beginning to return to the stores shelves after months of changes. The company said Monday that it will be steadily increasing the stock of Luon pants throughout June.
