Luis Fonsi will not be working with Justin Bieber on the latter’s next album. Fonsi has confirmed that he rarely meets with “I Don’t Care” singer, and the topic of a collaboration hasn’t come up in their discussions.
Fonsi is known for the hit song “Despacito,” which was a collaboration with Daddy Yankee. Bieber leant his voice to the remix of the song.
Speaking at the red carpet of the 2019 Latin GRAMMY Awards in Las Vegas recently, Fonsi told ET Online that Bieber hasn’t yet asked him for a song collaboration. The “Despacito” singer confirmed that he does get to meet Bieber from time to time, but the two may not be collaborating in the near future.
Fonsi is grateful for Bieber for believing in him and his song. “I'm just happy that he trusted us crazy Puerto Ricans to do the song,” Fonsi said about Bieber. “We had a good roll there,” he added.
Although he will not be working on Bieber’s next album, Fonsi is busy working on some music of his own. The “Despacito” singer also knows which big artist he wants to collaborate with next.
Ricky Martin has apparently been someone who Fonsi looks up to, and he his keen on collaborating with the “Livin’ la Vida Loca” singer. The two singers are friends, but they haven’t announced a collaboration yet.
“He's somebody I look up to. He's a close friend, so he's a great person, huge heart, so of course I'd love to be in the room with him, to perform, to work with him,” Fonsi said about Martin.
Meanwhile, Bieber is getting back to his music after taking a long break. The singer has been facing mental health issues, but back in November last year, he announced on Instagram that his fans will hear something from him soon.
