Once a prince, now a pauper. Ex-Lotus CEO Dany Bahar was unceremoniously fired from the company for 'misconduct' back in the beginning of June and had since retaliated by suing the company over 'wrongful termination' on June 18, no more than two weeks since he was kicked to the curb.
No thanks to Bahar's leadership, we know operations in Lotus have severely crumbled over the past year and Lotus has been struggling to keep its business together. What's more, Lotus has already been burdened with losses for more than 15 years. The situation is so critical, in fact, that Lotus has decided to withdraw appearances at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. Only in 2010 did Lotus stun the industry wiith an ambitious 5-car concept roll-out, directed by none other than Dany Bahar.
So Lotus, why don't you tell us what you really think about your ex-CEO? Lotus doesn't think of Bahar much at all, apparently. Earlier this week, the company has placed an ad to sell the bespoke 2002 Lotus Esprit V8 that once belonged to the impeached CEO.
On top of the reputation of its last owner, this particular 2002 Esprit V8 is truly one-of-a-kind. Bahar commissioned the vehicle to receive a rich coat of pearl white paint as well as a special interior trimmed in high-quality leather and suede. Only 1,000 miles were logged since a complete engine and transmission rebuild, making this Esprit V8 one of the most drivable examples in the world.
Performance components include a set of AP brakes on the front and Brembro brakes at the rear. Other changes include OZ wheels, a larger rear spoiler, unique tail lights, and a center-exit exhaust.
This Lotus Esprit is one of the most iconic machines to ever come out of England and this bespoke model will make it one of the most exclusive as well. With only 36,000 miles on the odometer and 1,000 since its engine rebuild, its low miles and documented maintenance will certainly make the next owner very happy.
