Daphne Fernández’s rapists could be standing in front of a judge in the next couple of months, sources have revealed.
Earlier this week, the PGR (Procuraduría General de la República) released a statement announcing they had contacted Interpol to request a red notice in hopes of catching aggressors Enrique Capitaine, Jorge Cotaita and Diego Cruz Alonso, who reportedly left the country as soon as the case went public.
“In the frame of international cooperation commitments, the PGR, via the Interpol, has issued a red notice for the localization and detention of three of the four young men being charged for sexually abusing a minor one year ago in the state of Veracruz," reads the statement.
Daphne’s lawyer, Jorge Winckler, talked to Radio Fórmula’s Ciro Gómez Leyva and explained that the three boys are being charged with pederasty; however, Capitaine could be facing up to 40 years in prison for being the only one who committed the crime.
As what Daphne’s father, Javier Fernández, confessed during an interview with Jorge Ramos on “Al Punto,” only Capitaine consummated the act.
“She was leaving the club and then she was taken against her will,” Fernández told Ramos of the night his daughter was raped. “She was forced to get in the car with these four individuals. You already know their names […]. And they took her against her will, they drove away, and on their way to their destination they began to sexually assault her. They took her to a house, where they consummated the act.”
Recent reports disclosed that Capitaine and Cotaita were last seen travelling to the United States of America, while Cruz Alonso allegedly headed to Spain. As of now, there are no official notices regarding the possible location of the attackers. Also, no notices saying they have been spotted by foreign authorities are available as of late.
