We were all shocked, intrigued and a little disgusted way back when Angelina Jolie was still dating Billy Bob Thornton and both wore a necklace that had a little tube filled with each other's blood.

That gesture is nothing compared to Lia Benninghoff and Aro Draven's lifestyle, which includes drinking each other's blood since they're both vampires.

Benninghoff, 20, and Draven, an unemployed 38-year-old father-of-five, are both from Haverhill, Suffolk and met on a dating website in February. Both were into goth, but Draven was the one who was a vampire.

"From the moment we met, I knew Aro was the one," said Lia. "When he told me he was a vampire, it was exciting. I didn't realize vampires actually existed, but I'd always hoped they did."

The two had been dating for about three weeks when Aro proposed and Lia accepted, and made the big decision to become a vampire herself.

"He turned me into a vampire. It had to be at 3 in the morning, the witching hour," said Lia about the ceremony.

"Aro cut himself with a razor on the back of his arm and then he offered me his blood. Then I cut myself and he drank from me too," she explained to The Sun.

"Suddenly I felt the energy rushing through me. It took a day for the transformation to be complete, and afterwards I felt revitalized. It was a magical experience -- much more intimate than sex," she added.

Lia loved the experience so much she's now hooked on blood and feels weak whenever she goes a long time without having it.

The couple drink each other's blood once a week and also enjoy eating raw steaks, washed down with a glass of pig's blood. "Most blood has a sort of coppery iron taste to it," recalled Lia.

"I wasn't concerned about anyone having bad thoughts about me turning Lia, the only thing that was of concern to me was what Lia wanted," said Aro referring to his future bride's decision to join him in his lifestyle.

The couple plan to get married on Halloween this year, but whether they will work up the nerve to tell Benninghoff's parents remains to be seen. She told Barcroft TV: "My parents are totally happy with the relationship I have with Aro [but] they don't know we're both vampires and that Aro was the one who turned me."

She also added that people shouldn't fear them. "It's not like we'll go round biting just any old person in the street. We only share blood with each other, and we've both had tests done."
