Both Samsung and HTC have released a Google Play Edition of their flagship Android smartphones and with the recent release of the LG G2 many were wondering if LG's new device would get the same treatment.

Unfortunately that comes out to be a no, the folks over at LG has said to the Android community that they have no plans to release an LG G2 Google Play Edition at the moment. Check out the statement from LG below.
As of right now, LG doesn't have any plans for a Google Play Edition. The focus for the G2 is penetration through carriers. That however could change down the road." -Ken Hong, LG PR

This does not mean that LG will not work on a G2 Google Play Edition it simple just means that the company does not plan on making one at this moment.
It could be that the company is focused on new products. LG is rumored to be working on the Nexus 5 for Google, so it's possible that there's no Google Play Edition in the works. Then again other phone manufacturers, like HTC, said they would not be making Play Edition for the HTC One and put one out just a few months later.

Perhaps LG will change their mind and make a Play edition later down the road.
