Lupita Torrentera, a prominent figure of Mexico's Golden Age of cinema and the longtime partner of legendary actor and singer Pedro Infante, has passed away at the age of 93. Her death was announced by her daughter, Lupita Infante Torrentera, via Instagram, where she paid tribute to her mother as "a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother." She also wrote, "Mom, we love you and you will remain in all of our family's hearts."

Born María Guadalupe Torrentera y Bablot on November 2, 1931, in Tacubaya, Mexico City, she began her artistic career as a dancer and actress in the early 1940s. She appeared in several notable films, including 'Historia de un gran amor' (1942), 'Los miserables' (1943), and 'La vida inútil de Pito Pérez' (1944).

Torrentera's life became intertwined with that of Pedro Infante, one of Mexico's most iconic entertainers. Their relationship began when she was just 14 and he was 28, a union that sparked controversy due to their age difference and Infante's marital status. Despite familial opposition, they lived together and had three children: Graciela, who died in infancy; Pedro Infante Jr., who pursued a career in entertainment before he died in 2009; and Guadalupe Infante Torrentera, who also briefly worked in the arts.

After Infante's fatal plane crash in 1957, Torrentera married broadcaster and actor León Michel, with whom she had three more children. The couple eventually divorced, and Michel passed away in 2013.

Though her acting career was sporadic, Torrentera remained a respected figure in Mexican culture, often participating in events honoring Pedro Infante's legacy. She is survived by her daughter with Infante, Guadalupe, and her granddaughter, Lupita Infante Esparza, has continued the family's artistic tradition, earning Grammy nominations for her work in regional Mexican music.
