Former Disney star Lee Thompson Young has died at the age of 29, according to reports by TMZ. Young is best known for playing Jett Jackson on the Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson," a show about a teenage boy who plays a secret agent on a hit TV show. He later reprised the role in a 2001 movie about the character.
After the series was canceled in 2001, he landed roles in "The Guardian," "Friday Night Lights," "Scrubs," "Smallville" and "FlashForward." His most recent role was as Detective Barry Frost in "Rizzoli & Isles."
Young was discovered this morning after he failed to show up on the set of "Rizzoli & Isles," and staff called the actor's Los Angeles home and later the landlord. The landlord discovered Young's body when he opened the door with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The actor's publicist confirmed Young killed himself, telling TMZ, "It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning ... Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed."
