Los Angeles Airport was rattled this morning when a report of shots being fired took place at LAX. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) quickly responded to calls at 9:20am PDT, according to NBC 4 News. A witness told the local station that she heard a gunfire in the Virgin America terminal at Terminal 3. Initial reports say that a man with a rifle got past security check point and shot 2 people. A TSA employyee was shot in the leg, the passenger approached a document checker and pulled out a gun on him. The news station is also reporting that a second victim 45-year-old man was shot in the leg and has been taken to UCLA Medical Center, while a third victim left with a sprained leg.

"I was in the VA terminal waiting in line for security ... someone started shooting 15 ft where I was standing. I couldn't see the shooter," witness Nick Pugh told NBC4. "It sounded like it was where you check in your bags. We were in the upstairs area and I heard a total about 8-10 shots fired. It sounded like just one person. Everyone dropped to the floor, but their was no where to go. I was running and first line of police and I was pulled to the ground and cuffed as they thought I was a suspect." Traffic into LAX has been stopped and a major shutdown is in effect. NBC4 is reporting that planes are not being allowed to take off and incoming flights have been stalled on the runway. At 10:11AM PDT, the station reported that federal officials had confirmed that the situation had ended.
