Last season of "Law and Order: SVU" ended with Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) being taken hostage by a serial rapists the SVU team was trying to put in prison. Accused rapist Louis Williams (Pablo Schreiber) waited for detective Benson to return to her empty apartment, where he pulled a gun on her. Throughout last season's finale the SVU squad: Benson, Munch (Richard Belzer), Tutuola (Ice-T), Amaro (Danny Pino), Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Captain Cragen (Dann Florek) were working hard to connect Williams to a series of rapes and murders.

Every time the SVU squad thought they had Williams nailed he would somehow worm his way out of the situation and walk away a free man. The episode ends with Captain Cragen telling Benson to take a few days off. The rest of the team goes off on their own feeling defeated and waiting for another chance to get Williams. When Benson walks into her home she can sense something is not right. As she goes to check her apartment Williams walks out of the shadows with a gun to her head. The episode ends there.

Tonight NBC will air the Season 15 premiere of "Law and Order: SVU." The two hour long event will focus on the SVU team's realization that Detective Benson has gone missing. We will also see the brutality through which Olivia is put by Williams. In the episode titled "Surrender Benson" the SVU team will follow a string of cases that leads them to believe it may be too late to save their friend and fellow officer. In the episode promo we see Benson tied to a chair, beaten and threatened with a gun.

Actress Mariska Hargitay has put her skills to the test many times in her 15-years on "SVU." This season premiere Hargitay will place herself in a similar situation and call on her depth as an actress and knowledge of her character to give the viewer a dramatic and entertaining experience. Actor Dann Florek recently gave an interview with TV Line about Hargitay's performance in the season premiere. Florek called her performance "harrowing, challenging and worthwhile." "When we sat down and read it...I was very moved by it and challenged by it. And then I thought, 'Boy Mariska is in for a rough ride.'"

NBC will also air episode two of season 15 tonight at 10 p.m. EST. Episode two "Imprisoned Lives" is about a young boy found abandoned in Times Square. When police return to the child's home they find that there are more people being held captive in the house. The current case leads the SVU team to another case that is a few decades old. The squad will need to come together in order to solve the case. But after the events of episode one will they be able to?
